The Oregon State Bar is responsible for the Oregon Bar Exam. Oregon’s Examiners do not release essay questions or answers, although they are available for sale.
The Oregon Bar exam, a two-day exam, consists of
- the six-hour multiple-choice Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), weighted 50%;
- one 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) problem, weighted 12.5%;
- nine 35-minute Oregon essay questions, weighted 37.5%.
The successful applicant will receive a combined scaled score of 65.00. Applicants also must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 85 within two years of the bar examination.
The maximum length of an Oregon essay answer is 3 pages or 4,000 characters. Copies of prior exam questions and their answers are available for $25 per exam from the Oregon State Bar.

- decedents’ estates (wills)
- real property, including real estate finance
- trusts (wills)
- public law, including
- administrative law and procedure (federal and Oregon)
- constitutional law
- criminal law and procedure
- federal income taxation
- torts.
