The Ohio Board of Bar Examiners offers a significant amount of information on its website.
The Ohio bar exam, a 2½-day exam, consists of the six-hour Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), weighted 33%; two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) problems; and twelve Ohio essay questions.
Successful applicants must achieve a combined scaled score of 405 points. At any time before or after the bar exam, applicants must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 85.
The following subjects may be tested on the Ohio bar exam: business associations, civil procedure, commercial transactions, including UCC Articles 3 (negotiable instruments), 4, 4A, & 9, constitutional law, contracts, including UCC Articles 2 sales & Article 9 secured transactions, criminal law and procedure, evidence, legal ethics (professional responsibility), property, personal and real, including real estate finance, torts, wills and intestate succession.
