Resources available from the Florida Board of Bar Examiners have improved in recent years. Take their virtual tour of the Florida Bar Examination.
The Florida Bar exam, a two-day exam, consists of the six-hour Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), weighted 50%; three 60-minute Florida essay questions; and 100 Florida multiple choice questions.
Successful applicants must score a minimum of 136 on the MBE and 136 on the Florida portion of the exam. Applicants also must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) within 25 months of the bar examination. The passing scaled score for the MPRE is 80.
The Florida Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure and the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration are always tested on the Florida bar exam. Past essay and multiple-choice questions, plus sample answers, are available on-line.
The following subjects may be tested on the Florida bar exam: business entities (business associations, including partnerships and corporations), civil procedure (Florida), constitutional law (Florida and federal), contracts, including UCC Article 2 sales, criminal law and procedure, criminal procedure (Florida), equity, embedded subject tested with other doctrinal law (remedies), evidence, family law, Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, professional conduct (Florida), real property, including real estate finance, rules regulating trust accounts (Florida), torts, trusts (wills, trusts, and estates), wills and administration of estates.
